There are a wide range of options regarding places to stay, from the luxurious beach front Hesperia hotel in Playa el Agua to quaint guest houses located throughout Porlamar for around $25 to $50 per night.

A few of our favorite places for the budget conscious traveler are:
The Casa Lutecia Guesthouse owned and run by a French woman, Collete Pompili. There are nine nicely decorated rooms with bath and AC. There is also a comfortable roof top terrace. It is a few blocks from our condo located on Calle Campos between Cedeño/Marcano in Porlamar; tel: (0295) 263 8526.
The Hotel “For You” is a very modest 90 room hotel with two restaurants, a beauty parlor and money exchange. This reasonably priced hotel is away from the beach and in the Central Downtown Area. The Maria Luisa hotel is a 98 room hotel located across the street from the bay on the Av Raúl Leoni near our condo. in Porlamar. It is modest, but clean and popular with young travelers.

The Hotel Macanao (former Hilton) is a nice but pricey (Bs.F950 per night) property that has a well appointed casino, beautiful water fall pool, and a private beach. The Best Western Margarita Dynasty hotel is located 500 yards behind the (former) Hilton Hotel and is a great property with a huge atrium in the center that includes a pool, bar and entertainment in the evenings. The Bella Vista hotel is an exclusive five star beach front property on Guaraguao Bay, it is now a bit old but very well maintained. It has 300 rooms, two pools, and a night club. The Bella Vista hotel offers all—inclusive packages that include meals and airport pick up. The La Samanna Sea Spa and hotel is high quality five star health care center and hotel with 64 rooms and suites, sea view balconies, pool, pharmacy and a fine traditional Venezuelan restaurant. The spa is renowned for Thalassotherapy using sea water and gives full health and beauty treatments, therapeutic massages and Tai Chi classes. The Sunset Posada is located in beautiful Juan Griego, a place known for its wonderful sunsets like the one at the top of this page. It is located about 40 minutes drive from Porlamar. The owner, Carlos, boasts that the beach in front of his posada has the world's most beautiful sunsets.
