Booking Guide

Unless you are coming from Europe or Canada, your ticket booking options are fairly limited. All flights originating from the U.S. must go through Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, 17 miles from Caracas. Be sure to arrive on a morning flight unless you want to spend the night in one of the less than interesting hotels near the airport.

The most cost effective way to fly is to schedule your flight(s) well in advance and shop around for the best deal. If you are willing to do a little extra work, you can save hundreds of dollars. Mexicana Air and some Columbian airlines offer cheap flights. Also, look at flights from Florida.

The international airport terminal and the domestic airport terminal are located just a few hundred yards from each other and I usually walk between airport terminals instead of taking a taxi. (See Airport Hints)

When friends and family arrive at the airport on Margarita Island you can give me a call at 0412 795 3556 and I will come to pick you up at the airport or if you prefer, I can give you instructions on how to get to our apartment.

Flights from Outside the U.S.

There are direct flights to Margarita Island from Amsterdam, Germany, London, Denmark and France. Also, Toronto and Montreal have flights in the winter.

Canadians: Air transit for direct flights to Margarita for “air only” tickets (Dec. until March) at Air Canada.

Europeans: Direct flights to Caracas on Air France, KLM, BA, Lufthansa, Alitalia, Iberia and others. Direct flights to Margarita on an “air only” basis from Denmark and Amsterdam on Martin Air and from Germany on LTU and Condor Airlines.
